Delta Sigma Chapter

Beta Theta Pi has an extensive history on the UCI campus. The Delta Sigma Chapter of Beta Theta Pi began on March 9th, 1975 as the first fraternity at UC Irvine. The proud men of this chapter excelled in academics and athletics for many years. Following a shift in the national fraternity's mission, the chapter was reorganized under the Men of Principle Initiative in 2002. After this reorganization was complete, the chapter reopened as a Men of Principle Colony in April 2005.
The colony was given its full chapter status on August 8th, 2008 at the 169th General Convention in Dallas, TX. The brothers of the Delta Sigma Chapter are seeking out great men to join a hallowed tradition of excellence and continue to make an impact on greek life at UC Irvine. With the following goals of the Men of Principle Initiative as their guide, the brothers of Beta Theta Pi look forward to bringing out the Beta in every great man on campus.

  • Lifelong Friendship
Bonded by mutual obligations, oath and ritual, Betas form lifelong bonds of trust and friendship, which are the foundation of the Fraternity’s mission.
  • Cultivation of the Intellect
Beta membership encourages individual and chapter support of the academic mission and provides opportunities for co-curricular learning and personal growth.
  • Responsible Leadership
Betas participate in a system of self-governance, bound by trust and responsibility, which nurtures the development of social and leadership skills.
  • Responsible Social Conduct
Beta Theta Pi is committed to standards of social conduct, which are guided by principles of urbane, civil, courteous and responsible deportment.
  • Commitment to Community
The experience of being a Beta encourages men to serve their university, fraternal and local communities.
